Desert tour from marrakech to Merzouga

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

Your journey begins in the morning from Marrakech, where you head towards the High Atlas Mountains. As you leave the city behind, the road climbs gradually through the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass, offering breathtaking views of mountains, valleys, and traditional Berber villages. You will stop along the way to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and experience local life in the mountains.

After crossing the pass, you arrive at the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its traditional mud architecture and its appearance in many international films. You will have time to explore the kasbah, walk through its narrow streets, and climb to the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the desert. Depending on time, you may visit the film studios or simply enjoy the atmosphere of this unique town. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges

After breakfast, the journey continues through the Skoura oasis, known for its palm groves and hidden kasbahs. This region offers a more authentic and peaceful atmosphere, far from busy tourist areas.

You then drive through the Valley of Roses, famous for its rose products and beautiful landscapes, especially in spring. Along the way, you will see small villages and local life in this fertile valley.

Arrive in Dades Valley, where the landscape becomes more dramatic with unusual rock formations and winding roads. After a short stop, continue to Todra Gorges, one of the most impressive natural sites in Morocco. Here, you will have time to walk between the high canyon walls and enjoy the fresh air and peaceful surroundings.

Dinner and overnight in a hotel either in Dades Valley or near Todra Gorges.

Day 3: Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, you continue your journey towards the Sahara Desert. The landscape gradually changes from mountains to open desert plains, giving you a sense of entering a completely different world.

You will pass through small towns like Erfoud, known for fossils and desert life, before reaching Merzouga. In the afternoon, you arrive at the edge of the Sahara, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi rise beautifully from the flat land.

Here, your desert adventure begins with a camel ride across the dunes. As you move slowly through the sand, you will enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert and watch the sunset as the colors change across the dunes.

When you reach the desert camp, you will be welcomed with traditional tea. After some time to relax, enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner followed by music around the fire. The night in the desert, under a sky full of stars, is one of the most magical moments of the trip.

Overnight in desert camp.

Day 4: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, a calm and beautiful moment that you will never forget. After breakfast, return to the village by camel or 4×4.

Then begin the journey back to Marrakech. Along the way, you will pass again through different landscapes, with stops for rest, photos, and lunch.

Cross the High Atlas Mountains once more, enjoying the views from a new perspective. In the late afternoon or evening, arrive in Marrakech, marking the end of your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
