Marrakech desert tour 3 days

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

Your journey begins early in the morning from Marrakech, where you leave behind the busy city and start climbing into the High Atlas Mountains. The road takes you through the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass, offering breathtaking views of mountains, valleys, and small Berber villages built along the hills. Along the way, there will be several stops to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and discover local life in the mountains.

After crossing the mountains, you arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most famous and well-preserved kasbahs in Morocco. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its traditional mud architecture and has been used as a filming location for many international movies. You will have time to walk through the narrow streets, climb to the top for a panoramic view, and learn about the history of this unique place.

After lunch, the journey continues to Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the desert. From there, you travel through the Valley of Roses and Skoura oasis, where you can see palm groves and traditional villages. In the late afternoon, you arrive in Dades Valley, a peaceful area surrounded by mountains and famous for its unusual rock formations. You will enjoy dinner and spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, you continue your journey towards the Sahara Desert. The first stop is at Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon with high cliffs that can reach up to 300 meters. This place is perfect for a short walk, where you can enjoy the fresh air and admire the impressive rock walls shaped by nature over time.

Leaving the mountains behind, the landscape slowly changes as you move closer to the desert. You will pass through small towns and villages where you can see how local people live in these remote areas. The road becomes more open, and you start to feel the atmosphere of the Sahara.

In the afternoon, you arrive in Merzouga, where the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi begin. Here, your desert experience starts with a camel ride across the dunes. The slow rhythm of the camels and the silence of the desert create a peaceful and magical moment, especially as the sun begins to set and colors change over the dune

When you reach the camp, you are welcomed with traditional tea. After some time to relax, you will enjoy a Moroccan dinner, followed by music around the fire under a sky full of stars. This is one of the most unforgettable experiences of the trip. Overnight in desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

You will wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, a quiet and beautiful moment where the desert slowly lights up with warm colors. After breakfast, you return to the village by camel or 4×4, depending on your preference.

The journey back to Marrakech begins, passing again through different landscapes that now feel familiar but still impressive. You will travel through desert plains, valleys, and mountains, with stops along the way for rest and lunch.

Crossing the High Atlas Mountains once more, you can enjoy the views from a different perspective as the light changes during the day. The drive gives you time to reflect on the experiences of the past days, from the mountains to the desert.

You arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your 3-day desert adventure, full of memories, landscapes, and authentic experiences.
